PostSubject: Star Trek work in progress   Mon Aug 31, 2009 3:55 pm

As I'm sure anyone on deviantart knows already, I'm currently in the middle of a star trek cross stitch, which when finished will measure 260 x 206 stitches. It was supposed to be done by the end of summer, but I got lazy, so I'm going to try to finish it by December.
Please excuse the horrible quality on the picture, I don't have a camera so all I can use is my webcam.

Wow, that's a REALLY ambitious project! It'd take me years to finish something that formiddable! Even if it takes till December, my hat's off to you. ^^

Thanks so much! All my friends agree with the fact that its way to big, but I calculated that I'm 71.8% done, so I'm thinking I might even get this done before December Very Happy

Aww thankies so much! I'm glad you like it, the different shades of grey are annoying to work with, but it definately makes up for it when they all come together Razz

Wow that is fantastic. I would cry if I had to stitch that much gray, but when it is finished it's going to be so rewarding. I would have to watch all the seasons of Star Trek why stitching that to keep me motivated.

Haha thankies! I've already watched the entire first season, and half of the second season, and now I'm moving on to the movies, so I think I'm becoming a qualified trekki Very Happy

Thankies so much! I must say between your blue and my grey we make quite an amusing duo Razz
I actually haven't seen these patterns, thanks for the link! Although I must say I'm not quite sure I'm going to be doing any more star trek themed stitches for a while Very Happy

I think it does, when I was designing the pattern (using a computer program) I tried to incorporate the picture with the original colors, and it looked more realistic with just the one base color Very Happy

That's really impressive! The color scheme is great, and it must be a good show off piece that you'll be able to use as a conversation starter for years to come! I wish you the best of luck in getting it finished, but I think the project itself must be enough of a motivator that it doesn't get old that easily. Having a project shape up so realistically must be really cool to watch as it progresses!

it definately is! Especially the eyes make you take a second look at your work and realize that its actually starting to look like something.
Unfortunately, not alot of the people near me are as dorky as I am, so all I usually get is, "star trek...wasn't that what darth vadar was in?" *sigh* the curse of our generation Very Happy

Most of hubbys family is in the UK-- but yes huge families!!
Hubby is closer related to the Osmonds (Donny and Marie)--they shared a great-grandmother I think-- 2nd or 3rd cousins to them-- I tease him all the time over it!!!!!!

I got a little bit more done, not as much as I would have liked, but I've been swamped with work, apparently 1/3 of the people in my major drop after this year because the work load is too intense
I apologise again for the horrible quality, i have yet to actually get another camera. webcam ftw.

It still looks really cool! Even a slightly off photo doesn't mask the level of detail involved. It's also admirable that you can keep going through a lot of school work! Last year was my senior year of college, and in the first semester, the only major project I was able to finish was about 100x100 stitches, the assignments (and clubs ><) were so work intensive.

Its looking good!! Don't worry I haven't worked on mine too much for the last week!!
I have been in and out of the house constantly. I have been getting things done outside before it gets too cold to do anything!! Sad
