PostSubject: Holiday Stitching   Tue Sep 15, 2009 12:55 am

I was looking at cross stitch magazines at Jo-Ann's the other day, and I noticed that one of them had a bunch of Christmas patterns in it already! Though it was a little startling, it made me wonder- do you guys ever mix nerd stitching and holiday stitching? It's cool to think of it with any holiday, though some of them would be more likely than others. With Halloween, it seems like it would be easy, with all of the horror themed games, but with more religious holidays like Christmas or Hanukkah, I think it would be a little harder! I've made some Chistmas patterns before, because I was planning to make them for a raffle at my church that I ended up doing different stuff for, like one of Cardcaptor Sakura, and some tiny red and green recolored Nintendo sprites, but I've never actually made them. In fact, the nerdiest Christmas thing I've ever stitched was a 16-bit wreath out of the Mario Paint strategy guide. It seems like dork-ifying holidays would be fun, though, no matter how big or small the occasion, and was curious about what others on here had done on that front. ^^

Hmmm your right that would be a little harder. I have never done anything like that myself. I would probably do some green and read Mario mushrooms for my friends but I don't think I would do them at my church raffle, for the simple fact that I don't think it would mean as much to the receiver as it would to me ^-^

I do holiday ornaments for my tree. I like homemade ornaments-- and not those plastic fake things!!
I keep on saying I'm going to do stockings here but they never get made!! It is really hard to stitch holiday themes because you just want to stitch closer to the holidays and you never have time. Maybe I will get them done for next year!! LOL!! Smile I can also stitch for my MIL - her birthday is in December so Christmas themed items are always good!! Smile

Reminds me of the Naturo christmas stocking my friends and I found. They bought it and I stitched her name on it. I can't wait to give it to her.

I modified my sister's avatar on DA (lately it's been a big source of inspiration for me!) into a Christmas version - well, I just added a red hat instead of the party one it had. santa I should start it soon if I want to finish it for Christmas! Embarassed
