PostSubject: If anyone can find the time.   Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:37 am

Hey i'm horrible and making patterns unless the picture is extremely easy. So can anyone help me with either of these two. My boyfriend wants me to try to make a huge project to hang up. I've never done anything really big so i'm kinda scared to. Thinking it will just become a UFO. I was going to try a HEAD but they really scare me! So he asked if he could pick out an anime picture and see if that keeps me working on it. So can someone try to make me one of these... which ever will be easier. If it's the Tohru and Yuki one can you take out the stuff falling around them. Just make it a solid type background. Thanks!!!!

I haven't done any really big patterns for a while, so, if you don't mind, I'd like to give the Fruits Basket one a try. It's a really cute picture, and I think that the color count could be kept at a good level even if the pattern is larger. I'll start it while I'm watching TV and hopefully have it done before too much time passes!

With bigger patterns, it sometimes seems daunting at first, but it's not too bad when you get into working on it. It's a little surprising how much of it gets done in just a couple of hours, and the sense of accomplishment at the end is really nice. ^^

Miss T- I just tried the Fruit basket one -- it look blocky when I did it...
I tried to take colours out -- it didn't work for me.

When I did the Inuyasha -- It was alot of colours because of the size. The pattern will be pretty huge.
I cropped it before I put it into the program -- it was 170 x155 to make things clear.
It might work if you just did it on 22 count and 1/2 stitches.
Will add a photo to show you what it might look like.

Oh, it looked blocky at first, but, because of the wonders of having next to no life, I'm going through dot by dot to get it down to probably 15 to 20 colors at around 100x100 stitches, the way Little Mojo had advised me to make patterns when I first got the Pattern Maker a couple of years back. It might take hours and hours before it's done, but I think it'll work out pretty nicely! It's sort of relaxing to go through and revamp the whole image, even if it is time consuming. At the very least, it has to go better than some of the old Pokemon ones I made- there was one of James and Growlithe I worked on for a week. ^^;

The Inuyasha pattern's thumbnail looks really cool! The pinks and blues in the background looks soft and pretty, and even if it is big, I imagine the details would look amazing on a smaller count fabric, like you suggested. Very Happy

You know me-- I will do a pattern with 80 colours -- I think that is what I ended up on the bleach character. Happy I did it that way!!! The effects are pretty cool!! At least my next project only has 28 colours in it--alot of it is white!!!

This inuyasha -- has 100 floss colours- you might be able to take 20 out. But if you take too much out-- you will loose the effect!!

I tried my hand at the Inuyasha picture. I had to make it 32 count and 450 to 500 stitches wide to make it look good, along with almost 100 colors. If you had the mind to did it, it would look AWESOME. XDD

I figured the Inu Yasha one might be a bit too detailed. I can't wait to see the Fruits Basket one!!!!

Hey I was just curious if there are any updates on that fruit basket pattern? Thanks again for trying to make it.

I am still working on it, and though the base image is pretty hard to work with, I am starting to think that it might be viable to print out the piece, trace the lineart, scan the traced image, and then make a pattern of the tracing and manually color it in. I am sorry for the extended wait- I am *really* bad when it comes to pixelizing dark blues, dark browns, and grays.

I'm sorry, but I am still having serious trouble with this pattern. Both Tohru's hair and Yuki's uniform keep coming out to look blotchy and amaturish, and when I try to do it by hand, I keep making Tohru look like she has creepy zombie eyes. If there is another Fruits Basket image you'd like charted, I would gladly give it a try, but I have to surrender to this one. I apologize for making you wait so long for nothing and hope that I can do something to make up for it.

Awesome! I hadn't looked on that site for about a week. Thanks a ton Dawn! And thanks Missy for trying!!! I'll keep looking for another picture you can try. Would one scanned out of the manga work?

Yeah, that would work perfectly! I've always wanted to try making a pattern from a manga, too! ^^ I can do a grayscale version and a color one to match, if it's from one of the actual comic sections. It would be really fun, and I think I could get it done quickly, too.
